About me and my therapy practice:
I am a MBACP registered and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor based in East Hertfordshire. As an Integrative therapist; this simply means I trained in a variety of different therapeutic approaches. The benefit of being an integrative therapist is that I can be adaptable and flexible in terms of what each individual client needs. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where we can explore what is happening for you, with gentle challenge to support reflection and change.
I have been working with clients since 2016, and have extensive experience in working with Neurodiversity, ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement and Loss, OCD, Life Transitions, Health Anxiety, Chronic Illness, Identity Issues, Maternal / Parental Mental Health, Trauma, PTSD, ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences), Domestic Abuse, Sexual Assault and Childhood Sexual Abuse.
I have over 25 years of teaching experience across SEND, primary and secondary settings. Working within education has deepened my understanding of child and adolescent development, neurodiversity, family systems and the impact that school experiences can have on emotional wellbeing. This experience informs my therapeutic practice by enabling me to work with sensitivity, flexibility and insight when supporting young people, parents and adults whose experiences have been shaped by educational or developmental contexts.

Understanding Depression and Anxiety
Depression and anxiety are common mental health conditions that affect millions of people worldwide. They can manifest in various ways, impacting daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. Depression often presents as persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, loneliness and feelings of hopelessness. On the other hand, anxiety typically involves excessive worry, restlessness, and physical symptoms such as a racing heart or sweating. While these conditions can occur separately, they frequently co-occur, complicating the experience for those affected.
It is important to recognise the signs and seek help if you or someone you know is struggling.
Neurodiversity in Therapy
Neurodiversity is an important concept that acknowledges and embraces the variety of human brains and minds. It highlights that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others, are not deficits or disorders but rather natural variations of the human experience. In the context of therapy, understanding neurodiversity can significantly enhance the effectiveness of treatment for individuals who think and process information differently.
Therapists who adopt a neurodiverse approach recognise that traditional therapeutic methods may not always be suitable for everyone. For example, a person with autism might struggle with conventional talk therapy due to difficulties in social communication. Instead, therapies that incorporate visual aids, structured routines, or sensory-friendly environments can be more beneficial. This tailored approach not only respects the individual’s unique cognitive style but also fosters a sense of safety and acceptance.
Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences
Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood, such as abuse, neglect, or household dysfunction. These experiences can have long-lasting effects on an individual's mental and physical health.
Research shows that ACEs can lead to a range of negative outcomes, including increased risk for mental health issues, substance abuse, and chronic diseases in adulthood. Therefore, addressing these experiences is crucial for breaking the cycle of trauma.
By recognising and addressing the profound effects of childhood trauma, I can provide targeted interventions and support, allowing individuals to reclaim their lives and foster resilience, ultimately leading to healthier futures.
